Adelaide Bonhoeffer Group

Who we are

The Adelaide Bonhoeffer Group is a network of people who explore faith, ethics, and public life through the insights of theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer. We meet to ask honest questions about what it means to live faithfully in complex times—how belief translates into action, and how community can respond to injustice and suffering.

What we do

  • Gather for reading and discussion groups on Bonhoeffer’s writings and related thinkers.

  • Host open conversations linking theology, ethics, and social responsibility.

  • Connect university students, faith leaders, and community members who value critical reflection and dialogue.

Our focus

We draw inspiration from Bonhoeffer’s conviction that faith must be lived out in the world, not hidden from it. Our work explores how Christian thought can shape courage, compassion, and conscience in public life today.

Acknowledgement of Country

I acknowledge the Kaurna people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which I live and work in the Adelaide CBD, and the Peramangk people whose Country extends through the Adelaide Hills.

I pay my respects to Elders past and present, and recognise their enduring spiritual and cultural connection to the land, waters, and community.

May our shared learning and reflection honour their continuing stories and care for this place.
